TBAP Cambridge AP Academy

The Academy supports up to 35 secondary learners who have experienced difficulties with their learning and behaviour in mainstream school.The academy takes referrals from a wide variety of Secondary school across Cambridge and the surrounding villages, predominantly focusing on Yrs 9 – 11. Learners are taught in small, well supported groups and follow a broad curriculum of English, Maths, Science, PE, Art, Food Technology, Media and a range of college courses.

Learners have extra support for literacy and numeracy delivered by a team of learning Support Professionals. Learners also benefit from a weekly enrichment programme which allows them to explore healthy lifestyles and to experience outdoor pursuits and encourages team building. We work closely with families and outside agencies to give learners the skills and resilience they need to be safe and to raise their expectations of themselves as successful citizens.

During her tenure as Deputy Headteacher she also successfully trained and worked as an Ofsted inspector. Sarah came to special education following a successful career in middle and senior leadership within secondary mainstream settings, always working in schools in challenging urban contexts from Liverpool to London. Sarah is a values driven leader who is a passionate advocate for inclusive practice where all are valued and respected.

Head of School

Previous experience as a Senior Leader with Harris Academy and senior leadership in a mainstream school in the London Borough of Havering leading on Inclusion. Tony has a background in Physical Education and was Formerly a head of PE before moving into senior leadership as a director of learning.

Director of Learning

Previous experience as Head of English, Core Subject Lead and literacy lead. Bronson started working in education after spending almost ten years in the private sector working in communications.

Bachelors degree in Youth and Community Work. 15 years experience working with vulnerable young people and their families.
