TBAP 4th Annual Systems Leader Conference
Developing Sta in Alternative Provision and Measuring Success

The 4th Annual TSA conference proved to be a successful day with over 90 delegates from as far as Middlesbrough in attendance as well as representatives from the DfE the Ministry of Justice and the press. Kiran Gill gave an inspirational opening keynote explaining how ‘The Difference’ will support mainstream schools to be more inclusive whilst bringing capacity and skilled practitioners to AP. Sean Harford, OfSTED’s National Director for Education, outlined OfSTED’s new, more collaborative approach to inspections. Delegates were relieved to see that OfSTED do not expect predicted grades or P8 from AP and are looking for evidence of high expectations and useful assessment data instead. Robert Halfon MP, chair of the Education Select Committee’s enquiry into AP, outlined his findings so far and was particularly interested in learning more about our post-16 provision which he described as ‘rare’ and wanted to see more of the same. Finally, we had a range of excellent and practical workshops which all received excellent feedback from delegates. Thank you to Karen Thomson, Sam Rigby-White, Steff Bond, Krishna Purbhoo, Angela Tempany, Patricia Day, Peter Fellows, Rebecca Mead and Brenda McHugh (Anna Freud Centre) - please feel free to review their slides and contact us here at TBAP TSA if you would like further information.
